1. Overview of Gunsens

Gunsens unites Gun Detectors, wireless SOS Buttons, and the SOS App into an AI-powered early warning system to stop shootings before the first shot—in schools, workplaces, and public spaces.

 Gunsens Key Concepts:

  • Location – A place you’re protecting.
  • Floor Plan – A map showing the exact position of alerts and responding Police Officers.
  • Alert – A warning triggered by either a Gunsens Gun Detector or a Gunsens SOS Button.
  • Scene – Like a police "crime scene", this refers to an Alert event associated with a particular Location.

2. Gunsens Alerts

Gun threat and SOS alerts are instantly relayed to the public via the SOS App and to first responders through direct integration with 911 Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems. This ensures rapid response and seamless coordination.

Gun threat alerts:

Automatically triggered by Gunsens Gun Detectors (also called Sensors). Sensors can be purchased and managed in Settings on the Home tab bar.

SOS alerts:

Triggered by pressing the SOS Button three times. The SOS Button must be within approximately 50 feet of the associated smartphone to successfully trigger the alert. It can activate an alert even if the smartphone is locked.

Gunsens SOS Buttons can be purchased and managed in Settings on the Home tab bar.

3. App Navigation
The Gunsens SOS App features two tiers of tab bars for handling alerts. The primary
Home Tab Bar provides an overview of active and inactive alerts. When a specific alert is selected, the secondary Alert Tab Bar appears, offering detailed options and actions related to that alert.

  • Settings – Manage your account, devices, notifications, and SOS App preferences.

Upon opening the SOS App, users are directed to the Map screen, which displays active threat alerts and provides access to the Home Tab Bar for managing these alerts.

Yellow indicators represent gun threats, while red indicators represent SOS alerts. To view details, tap on a threat notification or one of the alert indicators on the map.

Fig. 3-2 Active alerts.

The Alerts screen shows all alerts in chronological order. Active alerts are marked with yellow and red indicators, while inactive alerts are shown in black and white. Alerts automatically deactivate after 24 hours.

If an alert was triggered by a Gun Detector or an SOS Button in the vicinity of a Gun Detector, the Scenes item on the Alert Tab Bar displays a floor plan and the address of the Scene, including the floor number and the appartment number. Otherwise, the screen shows the member's photo instead of a floor plan.

6. Inviting Members to Your Gunsens Account

The Gunsens App is designed to effectively manage and respond to threat alerts by using a structured membership system. Different users play different roles in ensuring safety, from receiving notifications to managing alerts, Gun Sensors and SOS Buttons.

To handle these varying responsibilities, Gunsens accounts are divided into five membership tiers: Owners, Admins, Police Officers, Viewers, and Kids. This hierarchy ensures that every user has appropriate access and control, enhancing the app’s functionality in complex environments like schools, businesses, and public spaces.

For instance, a school can purchase Gunsens SOS Panic Buttons for all of its students. The school then invites the students to join its Gunsens account as Kids. Once Kids install their SOS Panic Buttons, the school is automatically billed for their monthly monitoring subscriptions.

Owners:

  • Add or remove Admins, Viewers, and Kids.
  • If verified as law enforcement, can add Police Officers to their account.
  • Manage all connected Gun Detectors.
  • Pay for Gun Detectors and SOS Button subscriptions for all invited users, including Police Officers.
  • Enable single-click activation for SOS Buttons (applies automatically to all invited users).
  • Install and manage their own SOS Buttons.

Admins:

  • Add and remove Viewers, and Kids.
  • If verified as law enforcement, can add Police Officers.
  • Manage Gun Detectors.
  • Install their own SOS Buttons (with subscription charged to the Owner).

Police Officers:

  • Install their own SOS Buttons (subscription is billed to the Owner).
  • Broadcast status updates: “On the Way” or “Arrived”.
  • Identified by a blue shield icon next to their name.
  • Able to tap a red, blue or green "Presence" icon on a Floor Plan to see names of people present on the scene.

Viewers (17+):

  • Install their own SOS Buttons (with subscription charged to the Owner).

Kids (Under 17):

  • Install their own SOS Buttons (with subscription charged to the Owner).
  • Can only view their own Bodycam Videos—they cannot see other users’ Videos to protect them from potential exposure to violent content.

7. Mounting Gun Sensors

Indoors:

  • Indoors, Gun Detectors are installed similarly to smoke detectors, consisting of a sensor unit and mounting bracket.
  • First, attach the mounting bracket to the ceiling’s electrical box. Then, connect the 110v power from the electrical box to the Detector unit. Finally, twist the sensor unit onto the mounting bracket.

Outdoors:

  • Gunsens Gun Detectors are waterproof and can be mounted outdoors like security cameras, on walls or lamp posts.
  • First, attach the mounting bracket to a standard camera mount. Connect the 110v power from the electrical box inside the camera mount to the sensor unit, and twist the sensor unit onto the mounting bracket.
